ஜப்பானிய விஞ்ஞானியான அட்சுஷி ஷிமிசு, சூறாவளிக் காற்றாகிய டைபூன்(typhoon)ஐ தாக்குபிடிக்க மட்டுமல்லாது, அதிலிருந்து மின்சாரத்தை அதிக அளவு உற்பத்தி பண்ணும் காற்றாலையை உருவாக்கி இருக்கிறார்.
ஒரு வலுவான சூறாவளியானது, ஏறத்தாழ உலகின் மின்சார உற்பத்தியில் பாதியை உற்பத்தி செய்யும் திறன் உடையது என்று அட்லாண்டிக் கடலியல் மற்றும் வானிலை ஆராய்ச்சி ஆய்வகம்(Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory) கூறுகிறது.
முட்டை அடிக்கும் கருவி வடிவில் காற்றாலையை உருவாக்கி இருக்கிறார் ஷிமிசு. ஒரு சூறாவளியின் சக்தியிலிருந்து ஜப்பானுக்கு 50 வருடங்களுக்கு தேவையான மின்சாரம் கிடைக்குமென்று ஷிமிசு கூறுகிறார்.
Typhoon Turbine
Japanese engineer Atsushi Shimizu has invented the world’s first typhoon turbine. A robust, egg beater-shaped wind turbine, designed not only to withstand the incredible force of a tropical cyclone, but also to harness it.
A mature typhoon produces a level of kinetic energy “equivalent to about half the world-wide electrical generating capacity,” according to the Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory.
The energy from one typhoon, says Shimizu, could power Japan for 50 years.
